What type of work can be done with this license?

Statewide Contractor License
A statewide contractor license allows the license holder to work and bid on projects in any jusridiction within the state of Florida. You will need to meet the experience requirements and pass both the Business & Finance exam and the trade exam for license you wish to obtain.

County Specific Contractor License
A county specific contractor license allows the license holder to only work and bid on projects within the jusisdiction the license was issued. Most counties require that you meet their experience requirements and pass both a Business & Law exam and a trade exam.
What are the requirements to getting a license?

If you are getting a county license instead of a state license, you will need to meet the specific requirements set by the local licensing board.

How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your statewide contractor license, visit the Contractor's Board Website or call the Florida DBPR at 850-487-1395 .
To a obtain a county specific license, you need to apply with your local licensing board.
14 hours of continuing education are required each renewal.

The first step is to obtain pre-approval for your exam. This can be completed through PTI by calling 407-264-0562.
Preparing to pass the State exam is a critical part of the licensing process. Failing the exam can result in substantial delays before you are able to work under your license. We offer industry leading exam prep and all of the required books, at an unbeatable price.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Contact PSI at 800-733-9267 to begin this process. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.
Next you will need to submit to background checks, form a legal entity, obtain all required insurance, and obtain a bond (if necessary).
After completing all the steps above, it will be time to apply through DBPR to obtain your Florida Contractors License.
Which exam do I need to take?
To schedule your Florida statewide construction exam, first obtain pre-approval with PTI by visiting floridaexam.com or call 407-264-0562. After you have been approved, you can schedule your exams with Pearson VUE at 888-204-6230. Division I contractors (General, Building, and Residential) must pass three examinations: Business & Finance, Contract Administration, and Project Management.
If you're obtaining a county license instead a state license, you can schedule your exams through ProV Exams by visiting their website or by calling 801-733-4455.

How do I pass the exam?
The Florida exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
