What type of work can be done with this license?

MM-1 Plumbing License
Licensees can install, alter, repair and service plumbing fixtures, and piping, including pneumatic or electric controls and control wiring not greater than 24 volts, concrete supports, and excavating, trenching and backfilling. Includes hot water heating systems not exceeding 30 p.s.i. or 400,00 b.t.u./hour input; piping for fuel, oil and gasoline and for solar energy systems; septic tanks, manholes and sewer lines; irrigation sprinkler systems; swimming pools and spas. Does not include installation of natural gas fired appliances or natural gas piping.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
MM-1 Plumbing Requirements- Obtain 4 years/8,000 hours of Experience
- Pass New Mexico Business and Law Exam, MM-1 Plumbing with at least 75% score
- Become an approved Qualifying Party
- Submit signed and complete application
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department at 505-476-4500 or visit the New Mexico board of licensing contractors website to submit online.
New Mexico does require 16 hours of continuing education for this license. New Mexico has reciprocity agreements for Journeyman licenses with Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

New Mexico Contractors must pass two examinations: MM-1 Plumbing exam and Business and Law exam.

- Passing Score: 75% correct
- Time allowed: 250 minutes

How do I pass the exam?
The New Mexico exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test!
