Michigan Plumbers are regulated by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. They govern licensure for Journey, Master, and Contractor Plumbers. Requirements for obtaining each type of license can be found below.
We have the books, courses, and professionals ready to help you pass. All our training is offered in an online self-paced format. Our exam prep is not only designed to help you pass your test the first time, but is also designed to teach you valuable knowledge for your career. The courses are available from almost any device, any time. We hope that you will make RocketCert your home to help you obtain your Michigan Plumbing License.
After completing the required plumbing apprenticeship, applicants may choose to become a Journey Plumber, which serves as a foundation for becoming either a Master Plumber or Plumbing contractor in Michigan.
Prior to applying, Master Plumbers must complete an additional 4,000 hours as a Journey Plumber. Master Plumbers may supervise or train Journey and apprentice plumbers.
Plumbing Contractors may focus more on bidding and contracting plumbing jobs. They require the same amount of experience as Master Plumbers, but must also provide proof of being an owner or officer of a plumbing business in the state of Michigan.
Rule 5 (1) of MI Admin Code 338.925 - "The character, experience, and fitness of the applicants shall also be taken into consideration. The board and department may investigate any applicant, or application filed, and approve or disapprove the same."
To apply for your license, contact the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs at 517-335-9700 or visit the LARA website to submit online.
Michigan requires 5 hours of continuing education for this license. Michigan may allow applicants reciprocity if a license and experience in another state is deemed sufficient by a quorum of the board. In such instances, applicants will still be required to pass the required exam.
With RocketCert, our education is written by a combination of professional educators and industry professionals. We pride ourselves on providing industry leading customer service. Also, if you find a better original price on any online course that we offer, we will beat it by 10%.
The first step is to obtain pre-approval for your exam. This can be obtained via an approved application packet submitted to the board. Once approved, applicants may schedule a time and date to take the exam. Contact PSI at 855-579-4635 to schedule. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.
Preparing to pass the State exam is a critical part of the licensing process. Failing the exam can result in substantial delays before you are able to work under your license. We offer industry leading exam prep and all of the required books, at an unbeatable price.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below).
