South Carolina requires all Residential Electrical Contractors to obtain a Residential Specialty Electrical License before any bidding or residential Electrical work over $5,000 can take place. All applicants must pass the Business Management & Law exam in addition to one of the Electrician exams offered in South Carolina.
Applicants can elect to sit for either the South Carolina Electrical Contractor Exam or the NASCLA Accredited Exam, which is accepted by multiple state agencies. Both exams are offered by PSI. Our exam prep is designed to help you pass your tests the first time, and is backed with our no pass, no pay policy. All of our courses are available from almost any device, any time. We hope that you will make RocketCert your home to help you obtain your South Carolina Residential Electrical Contractor License.
Residential Electrical Contractors are licensed to perform the installation, alteration and repair of any wiring, related electrical material and equipment common to the residential building industry.
To apply for your license, contact the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission at 803-896-4696 or visit Residential Builders Commission.
The state does not require continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, South Carolina has reciprocity agreements for this license with Alabama.

A passing score on the exam is required prior to submitting an application. Contact PSI to schedule the examination. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.
