They are described as one who, by the employment of journeymen or apprentices, performs the work of installing, repairing or maintaining wires, conduits, apparatus, devices, fixtures or other appliances used for light, heat, power, fire warning or security system purposes. Each Journeyman may only have one apprentice under their supervision. The Master may also do electrical work themselves.

In Kentucky, an Electrical Contractor can perform electrical work for the public. Only licensed electrical contractors may request electrical permits. All electrical Contractors must employ at least one Master Electrician.

Kentucky requires each licensee to complete Continuing education prior to each renewal. Kentucky has reciprocity agreements with Louisiana, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam bulletin.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is not required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.

Kentucky Electrical Contractors must pass two exams: Electrical and Business and Law.
Masters and Journeymen must pass only the electrician exam.
Exams can be scheduled through either ProV or Pearson VUE. Our exam prep and books are for the ProV exam.
