The state qualifies a Journey Worker Electrical as any person who performs or supervises the actual physical work of installation, improvement, extension or alteration of Electrical systems under the supervision of a qualified Electrical contractor.
Once licensed, the Idaho Division of Building Safety considers a Master Electrician to be any person who has personally performed the actual physical work of installing electric wiring or equipment as a journeyman electrician for at least four (4) years under the supervision of a qualified electrical contractor.
Electrical Contractors are those who are providing or offering to provide electrical contracting services, including, but not limited to, submitting a bid. They must either be or employ at least one (1) full-time Idaho Master Electrician.
All installations performed must have been made under the constant supervision of a licensed Electrical Journeyman/Master.
To inquire about your license or find the license application, contact the Idaho Division of Building Safety at 208-334-3950 or visit the board Website.
Idaho Electricians need 24 hours of continuing education for each renewal. Also, Idaho Journeyman have reciprocity agreements with Colorado, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.
