The Division of Occupational and Professional Licensure manages electrical licenses for the state of Idaho. Electrical licenses expire on the licensee’s birthday and follow a 3-year renewal cycle. Because renewal deadlines are based on each individual’s birthday, it is important for licensees to keep track of their expiration date and plan ahead before the renewal period ends. Licensees are no longer required to complete continuing education prior to renewing their electrical license.

How do I renew my electrical license in Idaho?
In Idaho, the license expires every three years. For example, if it was issued April 4th 20XX, it will expire April 30th, 3 years later. Continuing Education is no longer required to renew your electrical license.
Check your expiration date and resolve any outstanding penalties, permit fees, or correction notices.
Log in to Idaho DOPL Online Services, verify your information, and complete the renewal questions. Continuing education is no longer required.
Pay the current renewal fee and confirm that your updated expiration date appears in your account.
