The abilities of a Journeyman Electrician include but are not limited to installing or maintaining electrical wires and equipment that are used for light, heat, or power and installing and maintaining remote control, signaling, power limited, or communication circuits or systems.
Master Electricians are licensed to engage in installing, and when assigned, act as an administrator to ensure that an Electrical Contractor's work is in compliance with the electrical laws and rules.
An Electrical Administrator ensures that the work performed is compliant with laws and regulations. Every Electrical Contractor and company must have a designated Electrical Administrator at all times. The state allows applicants to become either a General Administrator or Specialty Administrator. Specialty Administrators must pick 1 of 14 specialties, and they must be assigned to Electrical Contractors or companies of the same specialty.

Licensed electricians must complete 24 hours of continuing education each licensing period to renew. Washington has reciprocity agreements with Idaho.

The state requires all applicants to have an affidavit of the required experience and completed classroom hours on file. Once it has been submitted, verify they have filed it by calling 360-902-5269.
Once the state has the required information, submit your completed application and required fees directly to the state via mail, online, or in-person at a local Labor and Industries office. They will review the application and if approved, mail a notice with details on how to schedule a time to sit for the exam with PSI.
