Residential Plumbing Contractor Licensing & Exam Prep
South Carolina requires all Residential Plumbing Contractors to obtain a Residential Specialty Plumbing License before any bidding or residential plumbing work over $5,000 can take place. The Business & Law test accompanies this exam as a requirement for licensure.

Residential Plumbing Contractor
Residential Plumbing Contractors are licensed to perform the installation, alteration and repair of water and natural gas piping systems, sewage systems and water filter and purification and conditioning systems, including all related fixtures, vents, and devices common to the residential building industry consisting of 16 units or less, and not exceeding 3-stories in height.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Exams- Pass SC Residential Plumbing Contractor Exam
- Pass Residential Business Management & Law Exam
Financial- Furnish an original surety bond with the license fee after passing the examination if the total cost of construction exceeds $5,000. The bond must be the original document signed by the applicant, in the amount of $10,000, with the power of attorney attached and the individuals name listed as principal.
Experience- Submit 1 year of experience under a residential builder or Plumbing contractor within the preceding 5 years.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission at 803-896-4696 or visit Residential Builders Commission.
The state does not require continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, South Carolina has reciprocity agreements for this license with North Carolina.

How do I pass the exam?
