North Carolina requires a Plumbing License prior to the bidding or contracting any plumbing work. Class 1 is required for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. A Plumbing License in North Carolina can be utilized for work on the system of pipes, fixtures, apparatus and appurtenances, installed upon the premises, or in a building, to supply water thereto and to convey sewage or other waste there from. Includes fuel piping qualification.
North Carolina Plumbing Contractors must pass two examinations: the Plumbing Exam and the Business and Law exam. Business and Law is not required if the applicant holds an active contractor license with this Board and the applicant passed the Board’s Business and Law Exam after August, 2003.
Upon application approval, the applicant will receive instructions for scheduling the examination.
