Journeyman Plumber License
Journeyman Plumbers in New Hampshire are licensed to perform the installing, maintaining, and repairing of plumbing and drainage under the direction of a Master Plumber.

Master Plumber License
A Master Plumber in New Hampshire can be any person, firm, corporation, or limited liability company that, as a business, hires or employs a person or a persons to do plumbing work, or, without hiring any person, does that work as a principal business or as auxiliary to a principal business for its own account.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Plumber- Copy of apprentice ID Card; or
- A copy of any previously held out of state plumbing license or other authorization to practice as a plumber.
- One letter signed by a licensed master plumber who was supervising or directing the supervision of the applicant during military service or during the apprenticeship employment stating that:
- Writer supervised the applicant's plumbing work in the military or apprenticeship employment
- In the writer's opinion the applicant is competent to be a Journeyman Plumber.
- Copy of applicant's apprenticeship completion certificate from the Dept. of Labor.
Master Plumber- Copy of current NH Journeyman Plumber License (held at least 6 months or more)
- A copy of any previously held out of state plumbing license or other authorization to practice as a plumber.
- One letter signed by a licensed master plumber who was supervising or directing the supervision of the applicant during military service or during the apprenticeship employment stating that:
- Writer supervised the applicant's plumbing work in the military or apprenticeship employment
- In the writer's opinion the applicant is competent to be a journeyman plumber.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the New Hampshire Bureau of Building Safety & Construction at 603-223-4289 or visit Professional License Board.
The state requires continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, New Hampshire has no reciprocity agreements for this license type.

How do I pass the exam?
The New Hampshire exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
