What type of work can be done with this license?

Electrical Contractor License
You might not want a statewide electrical license if you only work in places you hold a license or where they're not required. However, if you would like to have one license that is recognized statewide, then the new statewide license may be for you. This new license allows an electrical contractor to maintain just one license that's recognized statewide instead of having a license for each city or county.
Any person operating as an electrical contractor in a political subdivision that does not require the contractor to hold a local license or that operates as an electrical contractor in a political subdivision that requires a local license possessed by that person, shall not be required to possess a statewide license.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Experience / Requirements- I have held an electrical contractor or master electrician occupational or business license issued by a Missouri political subdivision for six (6) of the previous eight (8) calendar years that requires passing a standardized written electrical assessment examination as an electrical contractor or master electrician based upon the National Electrical Code and that license is current, active and is not subject to discipline as of the date of this application.
- I have twelve thousand (12,000) verifiable practical hours installing equipment and associated wiring.
- I have a journeyman certificate from a United States Department of Labor-approved electrical apprenticeship program and have ten thousand (10,000) verifiable practical hours installing equipment and associated wiring.
- I have an associate’s degree and eight thousand (8,000) verifiable practical hours installing equipment and associated wiring.
- I have a four (4) year electrical engineering degree and four thousand (4,000) verifiable practical hours supervising the installation of equipment and associated wiring.
Exam / Insurance Requirements- You have passed an accepted electrical examination
- You have at least $500,000 of liability insurance

How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Missouri Division of Professional Registration at 573-751-0293 or visit their website.
Reciprocity: Any person who holds a valid current license issued by another state, a branch or unit of the military, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia, and who has been licensed for at least one year in such other jurisdiction, may submit an application for a license in Missouri in the same occupation or profession, and at the same practice level, for which he or she holds the current license, along with proof of current licensure and proof of licensure for at least one year in the other jurisdiction, to the relevant oversight body in this state.
NASCLA Accredited Electrical Exam: Many state licensing agencies, including Missouri, accept the NASCLA Electrical Exams. This gives you the option to just take one electrical exam instead of having to take each state's electrical exam. Some states may also require you to pass a business and law exam.

Which exam do I need to take?
Missouri allows you to pick from a variety of approved electrical exams. We recommend either taking the NASCLA Exam or the ProV Exam.
The NASCLA exam is accepted by many state licensing agencies. If you are looking to obtain a license in multiple states, the NASCLA exam can eliminate the need to take multiple state electrical exams.

How do I pass the exam?
The Missouri exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
