Master Electricians in Mississippi are unlimited in the amount and type of electrical work they may offer to perform, perform, or supervise.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
General Requirements- Pass Mississippi Law and Business Management exam
- Pass the NASCLA Electrical Contractor exam or the Mississippi Master Electrician exam
- Show proof of general liability insurance coverage
- Three reference letters, (one from the bank, 2 from coworkers)
- List three jobs completed in requested classification
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Mississippi State Board of Contractors at 601-354-6161 or visit Board Website.
No Continuing education is currently required for each renewal. Also, Mississippi has reciprocity agreements with Alabama , Arkansas, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities. Pre-approval is required from the testing agency prior to scheduling the exam
Once you have passed your exams PSI will notify the Mississippi State Board of Contractors and the Board will process and approve your application. Which exam do I need to take?
All applicants must pass the Business & Law Exam, but you may choose between two electrical exam options:
The state-specific exam OR the NASCLA Accredited Electrical Exam
The NASCLA Electrical Exam is Currently Accepted by 15 state licensing boards as a substitute for the state's trade exam. For a full list of accepting agencies Click Here.

- Time: 270 minutes

How do I pass the exam?
The Mississippi exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
