The Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures (TMS 402-08/ACI 530-08/ASCE 5-08) covers the design and construction of masonry structures. It is written in such form that it may be adopted by reference in a legally adopted building code.
The “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete” (“Code”) provides minimum requirements for the materials, design, and detailing of structural concrete buildings and, where applicable, nonbuilding structures. This Code addresses structural systems, members, and connections, including cast-in-place, precast, plain, nonprestressed, prestressed, and composite construction.
The Code covers the design and construction of masonry structures, with subjects covered ranging from quality assurance to the details and development of reinforcement. Compliance with the Specification is required by the Code to control materials, labor and construction.
