Your Oklahoma plumbing license is valid for three years before it must be renewed. The Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB) Plumbing Division is responsible for issuing and renewing plumbing licenses.

Before you can renew your license, you must submit to the CIB a completed renewal application and any required supporting documentation. In addition, plan to submit your renewal fee at the same time as your application.

To complete the renewal process, you must take six hours of Oklahoma plumbing continuing education and submit proof of this completion to the state.

Requirements for Renewing Your Plumbing License in Oklahoma

To be eligible for your OK plumbing license renewal, you must meet several requirements.

License Renewal Fees for Plumbers in Oklahoma

The renewal fee you must submit with your application is $75 for a journeyman plumber and $200 for a plumbing contractor. If you fail to renew your license online, you must also pay a late fee before your license can be renewed:

  • $100 late fee for journeyman plumbers
  • $300 late fee for plumbing contractors

If you are renewing online, you can submit your payment electronically. If you are mailing in your renewal, you must also remit your check or money order via mail.

Continuing Education Courses for OK Plumber License Renewal

Your license must be renewed annually by the last day of your birth month; however, continuing education courses are required only once every three years. Note that this continuing education must be completed within three years of your license deadline or the CIB will not process your renewal.

Courses are available online that cover all of the required subject matter. RocketCert is approved by the state to offer these CE courses, all of which are available 24/7 from just about any device.

Some subjects and topics covered in these courses include OSHA regulations and safety updates, IFGC, and IPC content.

Additional Requirements

You must maintain the appropriate insurance coverage (workers’ compensation and general liability) the entire time you are actively working as a professional plumber in Oklahoma. You are also required to submit a copy of the continuing certificate to the CIB if your insurance or bond is expired.

If your license has been inactive, you are ineligible for a routine renewal and must send in additional documentation. For example, you must mail your original bond plus a copy of your certificate of insurance with your renewal form in order to place your license on active status.

You may also be required to submit an affidavit verification of citizenship, a waiver for bond and insurance, or other paperwork at the time of your renewal. These requirements vary depending on your circumstances, so validate the information with the CIB.
