- High School Diploma or GED
- Proof of 64 Hour Pre-Licensure Course
- Evidence of Passing Score on the NHIE
- Certificate of Insurance with at least $250,000 in General Liability Coverage
- Kentucky State Police Background Check
- FBI Background Check
- Proof of 3 Unpaid Inspections under the Direct Supervision of a Kentucky Licensed Home Inspector
- Completed and Signed Application

How do I obtain an Kentucky home inspector license?
To apply for your license, contact the Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors at 502-782-2736 or visit their website. Kentucky requires 64 hours of training by an approved provider. Licensed home inspectors in Kentucky expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month of each even numbered year after the date of issuance of the renewed license. Kentucky requires 14 hours of continuing education annually. After initial renewal, licenses will expire on even-numbered years with a total of 28 hours for each renewal cycle.
