Obtain or Renew Your License in Ohio
Interested in pursuing a career as a barber or cosmetologist in the state of Ohio? Before you can begin working, you must first obtain a license from the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board. Applicants must meet certain training requirements and pass the state exams before a license is issued. License holders must also keep their license active in order to avoid late renewal penalties or violations for working without a license. Ohio requires barbers and cosmetologists to complete continuing education courses as part of the renewal process. Continuing Education
We have all of the information you need to renew your cosmetology license in Ohio. In order to keep your cosmetology license up to date, you must complete 4 hours of board approved continuing education every 2 years. The current renewal period ends on January 15, 2025.
