Cosmetology Continuing Education
Individual cosmetology licenses in Illinois expire every two years. Depending on your license type, it will either expire on even or odd years on the last day of the month. Cosmetologist license holders must complete 14 hours of continuing education while Hair Braiders, Nail Technicians, and Estheticians must complete 10. Illinois cosmetologist may complete up to 50% of their continuing education hours through online self-study courses.

How to I Renew my Illinois Cosmetology License?
In Illinois, you are required to complete 10 or 14 hours of state approved continuing education every 2 years in order to renew your license. Below you can find a table of the expiration dates of the licenses that are required to complete CE.
