An individual qualified to oversee and supervise alarm systems contractor operations including offers to sell, install, or service system that has the primary function of detecting and/or responding to emergencies other than fire.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Qualifying Agent
An individual qualified to oversee and supervise alarm systems contractor operations including offers to sell, install, or service a system that provides video surveillance of events, primarily by means of transmission and recording of visual signals through the use of film, cameras, receivers, and other visual imaging systems. Closed-circuit television systems may also include as secondary functions, audio and related electrical signals.
What are the Tennessee alarm systems contractor license requirements?
General Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be of good moral character
- Be employed by a certified alarm contractor
- Satisfied experience, education, and examination requirements
Experience Requirements
- A post-high school degree from an accredited university, college, or technical college approved by the commissioner
- A current certification from a national training program approved by the commissioner in the field of work to be installed, serviced, or monitored, and have at least 3 years of working experience in the alarm industry covering the actual installation of alarm systems
OR
Qualifying Agents
- A qualifying agent may only be the qualifier for one Alarm Contractor Company, and they must be a full time employee.
- An alarm company may only have 1 designated qualifying agent (DQA) but may have more than 1 qualifying agent (QA).
- The DQA must hold all classifications that the company has.
- A QA only needs to have the classification for the area they are working in.
How do I obtain an alarm systems contractor license in Tennessee?

Alarm system licenses in Tennessee expire every 2 years. The state board requires the qualifying agents to complete 16 hours of continuing education to renew their license.
