Oklahoma Refrigeration Journeyman & Contractor License
Refrigeration Contractor & Journeyman Licensing, Education & Exam Prep
Once you have completed a mechanical apprenticeship in Oklahoma you can begin the process to obtain a Journeyman Refrigeration license. After holding the license for one year, Refrigeration Journeyman license holders may apply for a Refrigeration Contractor license. Refrigeration Journeyman
A Refrigeration Journeyman is able to perform the operation, installation, maintenance, repair, fabrication, alteration or extension of refrigeration systems; including electrical components, piping, refrigerants, and refrigeration components while employed by a Refrigeration Contractor.

A Refrigeration Journeyman is able to perform the operation, installation, maintenance, repair, fabrication, alteration or extension of refrigeration systems; including electrical components, piping, refrigerants, and refrigeration components.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Requirements- 3 years verifiable apprentice experience in the mechanical trade (2,000 hours per year)
- An acceptable combination of relevant education and apprentice experience. Educational program must consist of at least 250 hours.
- Equivalent experience in the refrigeration trade while serving in the U.S. military.
Contractor Requirements- Have 1 additional year of verifiable experience
- Obtain a $5,000 surety bond
- Have general liability insurance of at least $50,000
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board at 405-521-6550 or visit OK.gov
Oklahoma requires each licensee to complete continuing education prior to each renewal. Oklahoma has reciprocity agreements for this license on a case-by-case basis.

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.

How do I pass the exam?
Both of the Oklahoma Refrigeration exams are open book. These references are permitted to be tabbed and highlighted! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
