Refrigeration Journeyman
A Refrigeration Journeyman is qualified to operate, install, maintain, repair, fabricate, alter, or expand refrigeration systems. This includes working with electrical components, piping, refrigerants, and other refrigeration parts, all under the employment of a licensed Refrigeration Contractor.

Refrigeration Contractor
A Refrigeration Journeyman is qualified to operate, install, maintain, repair, fabricate, modify, and expand refrigeration systems. This includes working with electrical components, piping, refrigerants, and other essential refrigeration parts.
What are the requirements to getting an Oklahoma Refrigeration license?
Journeyman Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- 3 years verifiable apprentice experience in the mechanical trade (2,000 hours per year)
- An acceptable combination of relevant education and apprentice experience. Educational program must consist of at least 250 hours.
- Equivalent experience in the refrigeration trade while serving in the U.S. military.
Contractor Requirements
In addition to the Journeyman requirements, Contractor applicants must:
- Have 1 additional year of verifiable experience
- Obtain a $5,000 surety bond
- Have general liability insurance of at least $50,000
How do I obtain an Oklahoma Refrigeration license?
To apply for your refrigeration license, contact the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board at 405-521-6550 or visit OK.gov
Oklahoma requires each licensee to complete continuing education prior to each renewal. Oklahoma has reciprocity agreements for this license on a case-by-case basis.

Submit Application
In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.
PASS THE STATE EXAM
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.
