  • Unlimited Electrical Contractor

    An Unlimited Electrical Contractor can lay out, install, maintain, repair, text, or replace all or part of electrical wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures, appliances or equipment transmitting, carrying, controlling, or using electricity.

  • Residential Electrical Contractor

    A Residential Electrical Contractor is limited to wiring buildings as defined in the National Electrical Code for one- and two-family dwellings.

  • Limited Electrical Contractor

    A Limited Electrical Contractor in Oklahoma must be an owner, partner, or officer in an electrical firm and are prohibited from engaging the work of an apprentice or journeyman electrician.

  • $5,000 Security Bond
  • $50,000 General Liability Insurance
  • Worker's Compensation Insurance
  • 12,000 verifiable hours on-the-job work experience in electrical construction work while employed by a licensed electrical contractor
    • 4,000 hours in 2 years experience as licensed Unlimited Electrical Journeyman employed by a licensed Electrical Contractor
    • 6,000 hours must be in commercial industrial work under the employment of a licensed Electrical Contractor
    • 2,000 hours may be satisfied by formal electrical education
Oklahoma Journeyman Plumbing RequirementsResidential Electrical Contractor
  • $5,000 Security Bond

  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • 4,000 hours as a residential or unlimited journeyman electrician under the employment and supervision of an electrical contractor
    • 4,000 hours as a registered apprentice
    • 3,000 hours as a registered apprentice AND 1,000 hours may be satisfied by formal electrical education
    • 8,000 verifiable hours total in electrical construction work while employed by an electrical contractor

Submit Application

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.

PASS THE STATE EXAM

After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.

Which exam do I need to take?

Oklahoma Electrical Contractors must pass two examinations: their Trade and Business and Law exam.

Upon approving an application, the state board will reach out to schedule a time and date to take the exam.

How do I pass the exam?

The Oklahoma Electrician exam is open book. This reference is permitted to be tabbed and highlighted! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
