North Carolina General Contractors Continuing Education

Licensed NC General contractors completing the required mandatory course and elective courses online with RocketCert

Once you obtain a General Contractor license, the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors (NCLBGC) requires 8 hours of continuing education each year for license renewal. Two of the hours must be a state-specified course, and the other 6 hours can be from elective courses. All of the North Carolina Contractor Continuing Education courses we offer are state-approved, so when it comes time to renew your license you will be compliant with the most recent state requirements.

North Carolina General Contractors should note that the CE year begins on January 1st and ends November 30th. To complete the 2 hour Mandatory Course produced by the board, you are able to take one of our live webinars. If needed, the remaining elective hours can be taken in a self-paced, online format.

If you didn't take the 2025 mandatory course before the 11/30/2025 deadline, the 2025 mandatory course can only be taken through Training Folks starting 1/1/2026

Requirements & Steps

How do I renew my Building / Residential Contractor license in North Carolina?

To renew, you are required to complete 8 hours of NCLBGC Continuing Education, which must consist of the 2 hour mandatory course and 6 hours of elective courses. The license holder or designated qualifier must complete education prior to November 30th of each year. Continuing education cannot be completed in December. We are an approved education provider through the board.

PURCHASE CONTINUING EDUCATION

We offer the required training online. Per state requirements, mandatory and elective courses must be completed within 90 days of purchase, and no later than November 30th.

COMPLETE THE TRAINING

8 hours of continuing education can be taken online with us, each renewal. With us, the training is available 24/7 on nearly any device. The mandatory course will need to be taken at one of our scheduled webinars. The board requires a maximum of 90 days from the time you purchase to complete the training.
