C-4 Painting and Decorating Contractor License
A person who holds a classification C-4 license may, apply any type of paint, varnish, shellac, stain, protective coatings and wax, attach papers, fabrics and plastics to the surfaces of buildings and their appurtenances, examine and prepare surfaces for painting and wallcovering, and install drywall, metal studs and acoustical tile.

The application of all paints, varnishes, protective coatings, shellacs, stains and other pigment by brush, spray or roller.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Experience & Education- Applicants who wish to have their experience considered during the application process must include education and work records in the completed application. This step is important to the application process, as it allows the board to determine the level and amount of work that may be performed by the applicant. More information may be found in the application.
Legal- Designate a Qualifying Party
- Be registered with the Nevada Secretary of State
- Provide proof of General Liability Insurance
- Provide Current Financial Statement
Examinations- Pass the C-4 Painting and Decorating Contractor Exam or the C-4A Painting Contractor Exam
- Pass the Contractor Management Survey Exam
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Nevada State Contractors Board at 702-486-1100 or visit their website.
No continuing education is required for renewal. Nevada has reciprocity agreements for the trades exams with Arizona, California, and Utah.

How do I pass the exam?
