Journey Plumbing / Gas Fitting License
A Journey Gas Fitter has the ability to provide plumbing and gas fitting services while under the direction and control of a Master Plumber or Gas Fitter.

Master Plumbing / Gas Fitting License
A Master Plumber / Gas Fitter may provide plumbing services and natural gas services.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journey Plumber / Gas Fitter- Have held a journey license for at least two years
- Have completed 3,750 hours of training under the direction and control of a licensed master plumber
- Pass a comprehensive written examination.
Master Plumber / Gas Fitter- Have held an apprentice license for at least four years
- Have completed 7,500 hours of training under the control and direction of a licensed master plumber
- Have completed 32 hours of training in backflow prevention device testing
- Pass a comprehensive written examination.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Maryland State Board of Plumbing at 410-230-6379 or visit the Board Website.
No continuing education is required for each renewal. Also, Maryland has no reciprocity agreements.

After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Obtain pre-approval by completing the Examination Registration form in the PSI bulletin. Send the completed form to PSI and wait up to 10 business days for approval to sit for the exam, then schedule a time to sit for the exam. Contact PSI at 855-746-8173 to begin this process. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities. Pre-approval is required from the testing agency prior to scheduling the exam

How do I pass the exam?
The Maryland exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
