What type of work can be done with this electrical license?

Master Electrician License
A Master Electrician has the ability to install, repair, or alter any electrical wiring, fixture, appliance, apparatus, raceways, or conduit that generates, transmits, transforms, or uses electrical energy in any form for light, heat, power, or communication.
What are the license requirements?
Master Electrician- Submit license application.
- Have 7 years of required work experience; credit will be given to those who have taken a 3 year professional training course.
- Minimum of $300,000 General Liability Insurance is required as well as $100,000 in Property Damage Insurance. If the Master has employees, they must carry Worker's Compensation Insurance.
- Pass a comprehensive examination.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Maryland State Board of Master Electricians at 410-230-6163 or visit the Board Website.
Maryland Electricians are required to complete 10 hours of continuing education for each renewal. Also, Maryland has no reciprocity agreements.

After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Obtain pre-approval by completing the Examination Registration form in the PSI bulletin. Send the completed form to PSI and wait up to 10 business days for approval to sit for the exam, then schedule a time to sit for the exam. Contact PSI at 855-898-0715 to begin this process. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities. Pre-approval is required from the testing agency prior to scheduling the exam
After completing all the steps above, it will be time to apply through Maryland State Board of Master Electricians to obtain your Maryland Master Electrician License. How do I pass the exam?
The Maryland electrical license exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.

Starting 5/2/2024 you may only use the 2020 NEC. You may use either the 2017 or 2020 NEC until that date.
