Georgia Plumbing License & Exam Prep
Master/Journeyman Plumbing Licensing & Exam Prep
Georgia requires all Plumbers to obtain a license before any bidding or work can take place. Plumbing licenses are administered by the Georgia Construction Industry Licensing Board. To obtain a license, you must pass the exam and meet the requirements in the sections below.

Journeyman Plumber License
Journeyman Plumbers in Georgia are licensed to have practical knowledge of plumbing installation. They can also install plumbing under the direction of a master plumber.

Master Plumber Class I (Restricted) License
Class I Master Plumbers in Georgia are licensed to bid for, offer to perform, or perform plumbing services. Class I Plumbers are restricted to plumbing involving single-family dwellings and one-level dwellings designed for not more than two families and commercial structures not to exceed 10,000 square feet in area.

Master Plumber Class II (Unrestricted) License
Class II Master Plumbers in Georgia are licensed to bid for, offer to perform, or perform plumbing services. Class II plumbers are may work on units of any size.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Plumber- Pass Georgia Journeyman Plumber exam (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 3 years
- 3 letters of reference only from Licensed Plumbers who have knowledge of the applicants work. One of them must be a licensed Master Plumber. Letters must be received in a sealed envelope with the signature of the reference written across the seal.
Master Plumbing License (Class 1)- Pass Georgia Journeyman Plumber exam (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 5 years, with at least 2 years as a licensed journeyman plumber, plumbing contractor, plumbing foreman, plumbing superintendent, or military plumber
- 3 letters of reference only from Licensed Plumbers who have knowledge of the applicants work. One of them must be a licensed Master Plumber. Letters must be received in a sealed envelope with the signature of the reference written across the seal.
Master Plumbing License (Class 2)- Pass Georgia Journeyman Plumber exam (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 5 years, with at least 2 years as a licensed journeyman plumber, plumbing contractor, plumbing foreman, plumbing superintendent, or military plumber
- 3 letters of reference only from Licensed Plumbers who have knowledge of the applicants work. One of them must be a licensed Master Plumber. Letters must be received in a sealed envelope with the signature of the reference written across the seal.
- Master Plumber Class 2 Non‐restricted applicants must describe experience with commercial or industrial plumbing.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Georgia PLB at 844-753-7825 or visit Professional License Board.
The state requires continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, Georgia has no reciprocity agreements for this license type.

After receiving a complete application packet, AMP will contact the applicant with an exam date and time, typically two weeks prior to exam date.

How do I pass the exam?
The Georgia exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
