What type of license can be achieved with this exam?

General Building Contractor License
The construction of all private, commercial, institutional, industrial, public, and other buildings and structures under contract with or engagement directly by an owner shall be undertaken by a general contractor, except as otherwise noted by law.

Residential Basic Contractor License
Residential Basic Contractors in Georgia are able to perform contractor work relative to detached one family and two-family residences and one-family townhouses not over three stories in height and their accessory buildings.

Residential Light Commercial Contractor License
Residential Light Commercial Contractors in Georgia are licensed to any contractor work or activity performed by a residential-basic contractor and, additionally, shall include such contractor work or activity related to multifamily and multi-use light commercial buildings and structures
What are the requirements to getting a license?
General Building Contractor- Pass Georgia General Building Contractor and Business & Law Exams (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 4 years, baccalaureate degree and 1 year, or equivalent education and work experience
- Provide proof of successful project completed by applicant within 5 years of application
- Obtain $500,000 general liability insurance
Residential Basic Contractor- Pass Georgia Residential Basic Contractor and Business & Law Exams (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 2 years, predominantly in the residential basic category
- Obtain $300,000 general liability insurance
Residential-Light Commercial- Pass Georgia Residential-Light Commercial Contractor and Business & Law Exams (pre-approval is required)
- Proven experience: 4 years, baccalaureate degree and 1 year, or equivalent education and work experience
- Provide proof of 2 successful projects completed by applicant within 4 years of application
- Obtain $500,000 general liability and workers' compensation insurance
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Georgia PLB at 844-753-7825 or visit Professional License Board.
The state requires continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, Georgia has reciprocity agreements for certain licenses.

In addition to the Business and Law Exam, Residential, Residential-Light Commercial, and General Contractor applicants must pass the corresponding exam.

The Georgia exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
