C-5 and C-6 Limited Electrical Contractor & Journeyperson & Exam Prep
Limited Electrical Contractor & Journeypersons in Connecticut are allowed to perform certain types of electrical work, but a Journeyperson must be under the employ of a licensed Contractor. What type of work can be done with this license?

C-5 Limited Electrical Contractor
The holder of this license may do all electrical work as defined in section 20-330 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

C-6 Limited Electrical Journeyperson
The holder of this license may perform only work as defined for C-5 category and only while in the employ of a licensed electrical contractor.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
C-5 Limited Electrical Contractor Pre-Qualifications- Pass the written Law and Business Examination and a specific trade examination
- Have two (2) years as an unlimited licensed journeyperson or at least six (6) years of equivalent experience and training.
C-6 Limited Electrical Journeyperson Pre-Qualifications- Pass the written Law and Business Examination and a specific trade examination
- Have completed a registered apprenticeship program or have at least four (4) years of equivalent experience and training.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection at 860-713-6100 or visit the Board Website.
4 hours of continuing education is required for each renewal. Also, Electrical licenses have no reciprocity agreements.

How do I pass the exam?
The exam prep includes math, theory and calculations, highlighting guides covering the topics your exam is based on, practice questions for each references, and unlimited attempts on our "test simulation".
