Electrical Administrator Licensing & Exam Prep
The two types of Electrical Administrator license are the Residential Wiring and the Unlimited Commercial Wiring. Each license type has its own requirements, which we have compiled and assembled below.

What type of work can be done with this license?

Residential Wiring
The holder of this license is able to perform electrical work in residential dwellings not exceeding 3 stories and not larger than a flour-plex, with the exception of 3 phase services and wiring.

Unlimited Commercial Wiring
Unlimited Commercial Wiring includes installation, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical work subject to the National Electrical Code within buildings and within property lines of any given property, and beginning at the secondary side of the transformer or street lighting and traffic signalization on public thoroughfares, roadways, or right-of-way; and work starting immediately after the first point of attachment of aerial or underground conductors to buildings or structures if aerial or underground wires or cables are used to provide power for buildings or structures within the property lines of any given property. This license does not include linework consisting of poles and towers, including the wires, cables, and other apparatus supported by them; and outdoor substations or other work defined under the unlimited linework category.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Residential Wiring- furnish proof satisfactory to the department that the applicant has practical experience as a journeyman residential wireman for at least two (2) of the four (4) years immediately preceding the date of application.

- Be registered with the Alaska Secretary of State
- Provide proof of General Liability Insurance
- Provide Current Financial Statement
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Alaska Licensing Board for Electrical Administrators at 334-272-5030 or visit their website.
No continuing education is required for renewal. Alaska has reciprocity agreements with Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

How do I pass the exam?
The Alaska exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
