A person who holds a certification issued by the Department of Safety and Professional Services as a certified UDC Construction Inspector may conduct inspections of one- and two-family dwellings for the purpose of administering and enforcing codes during the construction process.

UDC Construction Inspector Licenses expire every 4 years on June 30th. To renew, you must complete 24 hours of approved continuing education and submit your renewal to the state. Inspectors are required to complete a total of 24 hours of CE. Wisconsin has limited reciprocity arrangements, check with the board for the most up-to-date information.

Applicants have the choice of either taking the trade exam or submitting a copy of their Wisconsin Commercial Building Inspector certification. The Wisconsin Inspector Exams are administered by Pearson VUE or the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
