What type of work can be done with this license?

Code Inspector
A Code Inspector's duties include examining construction sites and building locations to ensure they are constructed or maintained in accordance with the State Mechanical Code and the adopted applicable codes relative to the situation. An Inspector may issue a report of the condition or circumstance to the Code Official for further action.

Code Plans Examiner
A Code Plans Examiner's duties include reviewing construction documents submitted as part of a permitting or compliance review to determine their compliance with the State Mechanical Code and the adopted applicable codes relative to the situation. A Plans Examiner may issue a report of the findings and conclusions of the review to the Code Official for further action
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your mechanical code license, contact the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry at 717-787-6085 or visit dli.pa.gov.

PASS THE EXAM

Which exam do I need to take?
The Pennsylvania Mechanical Code Exams are administered by the ICC, NCPCCI, and the State. To schedule your exam, you must submit an application through the testing agency of your choice.

How do I pass the exam?
