How do I obtain mechanical code official registration?

To apply for your mechanical code official registration, contact the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Fire and Building Safety Division at 317-232-1407 or visit Indiana.gov.

Submit Application

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam bulletin.

PASS THE STATE EXAM

APPLY FOR YOUR LICENSE

Which exam do I need to take?

Mechanical Code Official Exams are administered by ProV Exams. You must submit an application for examination in order to sit for the exam. The exams for registration as a mechanical inspector or plan reviewer tests for extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, applicable code, statutes governing the industry and referenced standards.
