Electronic/Communication Service Contracting (Abbr: ESC) means that service which provides for the installation, repair, improvement, or removal of electronic or communications systems annexed to real property including telephone wiring, computer cabling, sound systems, data links, data and network installation, television and cable TV wiring, antenna wiring, and fiber optics installation, all of which operate at 50 volts or less.
To apply for your license, contact the Virginia DPOR at 804-367-8511 or visit Contractor's Board Website.
As of this time, there is no continuing education for contractor's licenses (though there is for the trades). Also, Virginia does not have any reciprocity agreements.
With RocketCert, our education is written by a combination of professional educators and industry professionals. Our exam prep is guaranteed to help you pass the exam, and is backed with our no pass, no pay policy. We pride ourselves on providing industry leading customer service. This course is required to be completed by anyone obtaining a contractor's license in Virginia. We offer this online for $89.
Preparing to pass the State exam is a critical part of the licensing process. Failing the exam can result in substantial delays before you are able to work under your license. We offer industry leading exam prep and all of the required books, at an unbeatable price.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Contact PSI at 855-340-3910 to begin this process. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities. Pre-approval is required from the testing agency prior to scheduling the exam
After completing these steps, it will be time to apply through the Department of Professional Regulation (DPOR) to obtain your Virginia Contractors License. Have questions or concerns with this process (or just a lack of time)? Learn more about how we can assist with our Application Processing Program.
The Electronic Communication Service Contractor Exam must be passed in addition to the Virginia Contractor Class A, B, or C examinations. Passing this exam alone will not be sufficient to obtain a license.
To schedule your exam, visit psiexams.com or call 855-340-3910.
Topics include: Grounding and Bonding; Conductors and Cables; Electrical Power Conditioning; Electrical and Electronic Knowledge; Low Voltage Systems Under 50 Volts; TV Systems; Raceways and Enclosures; Computer and Data Systems; Testing Equipment; Telephone Systems
Depending on the license classification, you will also need to pass the general, advanced, and Virginia portions of testing. Learn more about the exam details. Class C contractor's only need to complete the 8 hour pre-licensing course, not pass an additional exam.
