Natural Gas Journeyman
A natural gas piping license entitles the licensee to install, alter, modify, service, maintain, or repair all natural gas piping. A journeyman must be under the direct supervision of a contractor.

A natural gas piping license entitles the licensee to install, alter, modify, service, maintain, or repair all natural gas piping.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Education & ExperienceMeet one of the following criteria:
- For Journeymen, minimum of 3 years’ verifiable experience in the Natural Gas trade while employed by a licensed Natural Gas contractor
- Equivalent of 3 years’ verifiable experience in the Natural Gas trade while serving in the U.S. military
- For Contractors, 1 addition year of experience (4 years total) is required
- A verifiable, current, and in good standing out of state Natural Gas license
An associate degree from a Natural Gas education program consisting of a minimum of 1,000 hours may be substituted for 2 years’ experience
A career tech diploma from a Natural Gas education program consisting of a minimum of 500 hours may be substituted for 1 year of experience
Legal & Financial- $5,000 Surety Bond

How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board at 405-521-6550 or visit OK.gov
Oklahoma requires each licensee to complete continuing education prior to each renewal. Oklahoma has reciprocity arrangements on a case-by-case basis.

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.
After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.

Which exam do I need to take?
Oklahoma Natural Gas Journeyman applicants must pass two examinations: the Natural Gas Journeyman and Business and Law exam.
Upon approving an application, the state board will reach out to schedule a time and date to take the exam.

How do I pass the exam?
The Oklahoma Journeyman Natural Gas exam is open book. This reference is permitted to be tabbed and highlighted! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
