A Mechanical Contractor license is required for anyone in Oklahoma who works for compensation in any HVAC activity. An HVAC/R Unlimited Contractor may perform work on any cooling product, system, or equipment, including the process piping, and/or heating equipment, including the process piping, and/or sheet metal, natural gas piping and refrigeration
An HVAC/R Limited Contractor is limited to any cooling product, system, or equipment including the process piping, that has a cooling capacity of no more than twenty-five (25) tons; and/or all heating equipment including the process piping that have a heat input of no more than 500,000 Btu/h per appliance; and/or sheet metal, natural gas piping and refrigeration

Oklahoma requires each licensee to complete continuing education prior to each renewal. Oklahoma has no reciprocity agreements for this license.

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.

Oklahoma Mechanical Contractors must pass two examinations: Mechanical and Business and Law exam.
