Due to Hurricane Helene, on October 3, 2024, the Board granted one year of continuing education credit to ACTIVE qualifiers/electrical contractors that are located in the NC counties declared disaster areas.

Electrician Continuing Education
In order to renew a North Carolina electrical license you must complete 8 hours of continuing education. 4 of the hours may be completed online while the other 4 hours must be completed in a classroom setting. We offer continuing education courses online in an easy to use, self-paced format. How do I renew my Electrical license in North Carolina?
North Carolina electricians must renew their license every year. The renewal date is based on the date the license was issued. To renew, you are required to complete the 8 hours of electrical continuing education and submit your renewal to the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors (NCBEEC).

What are the continuing education requirements for my license?
8 Hour Requirements
- Licensees must exercise judgment in selecting courses for which continuing education is claimed and in choosing only those courses that will advance the individual’s knowledge.
- Only 4 hours may be completed online and a minimum of 4 hours must be completed in an in person classroom setting.
