What type of work can be done with this license?

Journeyman Electrician License
A person doing work of installing electrical wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures and other electrical equipment. A journeyman electrician shall be employed by a master electrician. A journeyman electrician shall work under the direction and supervision of a master electrician.

Master Electrician License
A person either employed by another master electrician or how, as a business, hires or employs another to do electrical work, or, without hiring another, makes electrical installations as a principal or auxiliary business for his or her own account.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Electrician- Obtain 8,000 hours practical or field experience as an apprentice to a journeyman or master electrician licensed by the board; and
- Obtain 600 hours of electrical schooling, including a minimum of 24 hours on electrical safety, either
- accomplished in blocks of 150 hours per year, including a minimum of 6 hours on electrical safety; or
- by having an associate or higher degree in an electrical curriculum;
- have 10 years of experience as a journeyman or master electrician licensed in another jurisdiction; or
- have previously taken the journeyman or master exam in NH.
Master Electrician- Pass the journeyman examination and obtain 2,000 hours of field experience as a journeyman in performing electrical installations.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the New Hampshire Electricians' Board at 603-271-0145 or visit the board website.
Electricians in New Hampshire must renew their license every 2 years. The state requires 15 hours of continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, New Hampshire has reciprocity agreements for Journeymen in Arkansas, Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Iowa. Master Electricians have reciprocity in Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

How do I pass the exam?
The New Hampshire exams are open book. The references below are permitted to be tabbed, highlighted, and used during your test! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the State exam.
