Electrical Continuing Education

Licensed Michigan Electrical completing the required 15 hours of education online with RocketCert

Michigan electricians renew on a set schedule depending on license type. Journeyman and Master Electrician licenses expire annually on December 31. Electrical Contractor licenses expire on December 31 every third year, however, under special considerations, these licenses have until March 1st to renew. When the state construction code is updated or changed, Michigan requires a board-approved code update course to be completed within 12 months of that update.

We offer the continuing education online in an easy-to-use, self-paced format. Courses are expertly written, fully narrated, and are available from almost any device, any time. We hope that you will make RocketCert your home to complete your Michigan Electrical Continuing Education.

What courses are available for me to take online?

As a condition of renewal, the licensee must complete a board approved course concerning any update or change in the state construction code within 12 months after the update or change in that code. This requirement applies only during or after those years that the state construction code is updated or changed.

The Michigan statutes (MCL 339.5713 for masters and MCL 339.5715 for journeymen) no longer spell out a fixed "15 hours" (or any specific number) in law. They only mandate completion of "a course, approved by the [Electrical Administrative] board, concerning any update or change in the state construction code" within 12 months of adoption.
