Commercial Roofing License
A Commercial Roofing License is required for commercial projects with a value of $50,000 or more including labor and materials. This classification refers to the installation, maintenance or repair of roof systems, including membrane, asphalt shingle, composite shingle, metal, clay tile, wood shingle, wood shake, slate, and foam for buildings and structures. Includes roof decks, and waterproofing for associated parapet walls including flashings and other accessories. Also includes general sheet metal. Siding made of various materials such as wood, vinyl, aluminum, Hardie board is also included in this classification.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Commercial Roofing License- Complete the Commercial Application.
- Provide a financial statement affidavit showing a minimum of $10,000 net worth (must be current within 12 months of application)
- Complete Louisiana Roofing & Sheetmetal, Siding Exam and the Business & Law Course (pre-approval is required)
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Louisiana State Licensing Board (LSLBC) at 225-765-2301 or visit their website.
The state requires continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, Louisiana has reciprocity agreements for certain licenses. For this license there are currently reciprocity agreements with Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Utah, and Tennessee. For the most accurate information, contact the governing board for the jurisdiction you wish to be licensed in.
