Arkansas classifies Plumbers as either Journeyman or Master. Whereas the Journeyman is a more limited license, the Master Plumbing license is broader and allows for contracting with the general public. Journeyman Plumbing License
A Journeyman Plumber is considered to be any person other than a Master Plumber who engages in the practical installation of plumbing.

Master Plumber License
The Master Plumber license is able to perform the planning, superintending and the practical installation of plumbing and is familiar with the laws, rules and regulations governing the same.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Journeyman Plumber Requirements- Pass the Journeyman Plumber exam (pre-approval is required)
- A minimum of five (5) years of plumbing experience.
Master Plumber RequirementsPass the Master Plumbing Contractor exam (pre-approval is required)
- Pass the Master Plumber exam (pre-approval is required)
- A minimum of four (4) years of plumbing experience.
- Individuals applying for and obtaining Journeyman Plumber licensing must hold that license for one (1) full year before becoming eligible for Master Plumber examination.
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Arkansas Plumbing Inspection and Licensing Division at 501-661-2642 or visit Board Website.
No continuing education are required for each renewal. According to the state, Arkansas State Committee of Plumbing Examiners shall make an independent determination on all applications for reciprocal registration.

Business and Law
- Total Questions: 50
- Passing Score: 70% correct
- Time: 2 hours
- OPEN BOOK
Topics include: Business Organization; Licensing; Estimating and Bidding; Contract Management; Project Management; Insurance and Bonding; OSHA Recordkeeping; Personnel Regulations; Financial Management; Tax Laws; Lien Laws.
Master Plumber
- Total Questions: 100

- Time: 3 hours

How do I pass the exam?
The exam prep includes math, isometrics, highlighting guides covering the topics your exam is based on, practice questions for each references, and unlimited attempts on our "test simulation".
