Residential Insulation Contractor License
This license enables professionals you to perform insulation work exclusively on residential properties. This includes installing, repairing, and replacing various insulation types, such as batt/roll insulation, spray-applied insulation, blown (loose-fill) insulation, rigid board or reflective insulation, and vapor retarders on single‐family homes, duplexes, or other residential dwellings. In addition, you’re expected to adhere to applicable energy efficiency standards and OSHA safety guidelines when working on these residential projects.

Commercial Insulation Contractor License
This license enables professionals to install, repair, and maintain insulation systems on non‑residential properties and large-scale projects typically exceeding a $50,000. With the commercial license, contractors can work on a variety of commercial structures. It enables the use of different insulation types, such as batt/roll, spray-applied, blown (loose-fill), and rigid board or reflective insulation, and covers specialized applications like HVAC insulation and soundproofing. Additionally, this license comes with stricter financial, bonding, and safety requirements to ensure that contractors meet the higher standards expected in commercial construction.
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Education & Experience Requirements- Proof of relevant and verifiable experience.
- Three (3) verifiable references.
- Verified passing score for the Business and Law exam.
Legal & Financial Requirements- Submit a compiled financial statement showing a positive net worth excluding the applicants homestead and retirement accounts.
- Compliance with all other state laws and regulations reasonably connected to the performance of commercial building.
- Provide proof of compliance with workers' compensation requirements.
- Obtain fully executed $10,000.00 Contractor’s Bond

No continuing education is required to renew this license. Reciprocity may be given if you hold a substantially equivalent license in another jurisdiction.
