This classification allows the licensee to install and repair the following in a Commercial setting:
- Insulation materials, including radiant barriers
- Preformed architectural acoustical materials
- Insulation protecting materials

This classification allows the licensee to install and repair the following in a Commercial and Residential setting:
- Insulation materials, including radiant barriers
- Preformed architectural acoustical materials
- Insulation protecting materials
What are the requirements to getting a license?
Exam & Experience- Pass PSI Insulation Exam
- Complete the AZ Statutes and Rules Training Course and Exam (SRE) provided by the board
- Submit 2 years hands on and/or managerial experience
How do I obtain a license?
To apply for your license, contact the Arizona Registrar of Contractors at 803-896-4686 or visit their website.
The state does not require continuing education prior to each renewal. Also, Arizona has reciprocity agreements with California, Nevada, and Utah.

Which exam do I need to take?
Arizona applicants must pass the Insulation Exam and complete the AZ Statutes and Rules Training Course and Exam (SRE) provided by the board.

Insulation (C-40, CR-40) Exam
- Total Questions: 30
- Passing Score: 70% correct
- Time: 75 minutes

Topics include: General Knowledge and Theory; Spray-On Application; Batt/Roll Insulation; Blown or Loose-Fill Insulation; Rigid-Board and Reflective Insulation; Vapor Retarders; OSHA Safety
Applicants will take computer-based training about applicable Arizona statutes and rules and then be tested on what they learned throughout the training. Unlike the trade exams, this training course and exam is only available online and only offered through the ROC.
How do I pass the exam?
The exam prep includes math, highlighting guides covering the topics your exam is based on, practice questions for each references, and unlimited attempts on our "test simulation".
