1A and 1B Building Inspector
The National Certification Program for Construction Code Inspectors (NCPCCI) is designed to assess competency in technical code knowledge of a construction code inspector or plan reviewer. The NCPCCI certification program consists of a computer-based examination and a set of re-certification continuing education requirements that must be completed within a three-year time period prior to the initial certification. Applicants must wait 30 days to retest if they fail the exam. Multiple testing and certification agencies have reciprocity agreements in place, allowing those who pass the exam to instantly be eligible to obtain equivalent certifications. In any scenario, passing these exams is a testament to the knowledge and skill of anyone who passes.

The exams are open book. These references are permitted to be tabbed and highlighted! Unfortunately, our online course is NOT permitted to be accessed during the exam.

How do I obtain a license with National Standard Exams?
Passing these exams alone is not enough to obtain a license. Applicants must submit a license application with the proper state or local boards and satisfy their individual licensing requirements. Review the requirements prior to sitting for the exam. The best place to find more details about the requirements is by contacting the issuing board directly.
Most places require license holders to complete continuing education every year or two years in order to renew the license. Continuing education requirements for a license will be independent of the continuing education requirements set by IAEI, the issuing party of the certifications. They require that anyone who actively holds a certification is to complete 24 hours of continuing education every 3 years. We offer state-approved continuing education for trades across the country.

Once you feel comfortable with the content and have passed multiple practice exams, it's time to schedule the exam. You can schedule the exam on the ProV website. ProV now allows students to take these exams from their own computer via online proctoring. To check if your computer can be used to take the test online, use the Exam room System Test
Once you pass the exam, you will receive a physical copy of your passing score at the facility. You may also request a Replacement Result Letter directly from IAEC.
