If you’re interested in becoming a licensed building contractor under four stories in Alabama, you must meet several requirements set forth by the state. You will be required to pass two state exams, so begin preparing for the exams in advance to ensure there are no delays.

What Do Alabama Building Contractors Do?

Building contractors are responsible for building renovation and construction and oversee all project aspects. These professionals can work on projects that do not exceed three stories in height. Roof structures that are intended for use as a shelter for protection, convenience, or comfort cannot exceed 50 feet in height.

This includes the excavation and foundations for buildings and interior non-structural changes and repairs. These professionals can work on the construction of buildings that include modifications exceeding three stories if they are supervised by a general contractor or licensed construction manager.

To become a building contractor under four stories in Alabama, you’ll first need your license. Then you’ll need to renew it regularly as mandated by the state.
