All refrigeration contractors in the state of South Carolina are required to obtain a mechanical contractor license that has a refrigeration subclassification, as well as pass the Business Management and Law for Commercial Contractors Exam. These requirements must be fulfilled before any refrigeration work or bidding on jobs can take place.

The refrigeration mechanical contractor license allows professionals in South Carolina to install, repair, replace, or alter air conditioning systems and equipment. This equipment has numerous components and parts that are necessary for creating conditioned air for environmental cooling or heating within various buildings.
