All hours must be completed by your renewal date. 

Steps to Renew Your Nebraska Electrical License

Regardless of the type of electrical license you hold, it expires on December 31st of even-numbered years. This means you must renew it by January 1st of every odd-numbered year.  

Once you have obtained your required continuing education hours, you can visit the state licensure website to renew your license. Be aware that each license renewal requires a fee.  

If your license expires, you may not install electrical equipment, but you can renew it within three months. You will need to pay the renewal fee plus ten percent for each month your renewal is past due. After a three-month lapse, you must take the exam and obtain a new license. 

You do not need to take these steps to renew an apprentice license. You will simply register again with the Nebraska State Electrical Division.
