Requirements for Contractor Licensing

This exam is required for all contractors, regardless of their specific trade. It is an open-book test that includes topics like:

• Project Management
• Environmental and Safety

You will have 120 minutes to complete this test. It consists of 60 questions, and you must answer at least 75% correctly to receive a passing score.

Trade Exams

In addition to the Contractor Management Survey Exam, you’ll have to complete a trade exam related to the type of contractor license you wish to obtain. Options for Nevada contractor specialization include:

• B General Building Contractor
• B-2 Residential and Small Commercial Contractor
• C-1 Plumbing and Heating Contractor
• C-2 Electrical
• C-1D Plumbing

The content of these exams will vary based on your field of specialization. All tests are open-book. The B General Building Contractor, B-2 Residential and Small Commercial Contractor, and C-1D Plumbing exams are three hours long and include 80 questions, 56 of which must be answered correctly to pass. The C-2 Electrical exam also has 80 questions and a passing score of 56, but this test is four hours long.

The C-1 Plumbing and Heating Contractor exam has 120 questions, and you must answer a minimum of 84 correctly to pass. You have five hours to complete this test.
