Application Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One of the following requirements:
- Completion of 180 Hours of Pre-Licensing Education
- Performed no less than 250 Fee-Paid Home Inspections under the Direct Supervision of a Licensed Home Inspector
- Proof of $500,000 Errors & Omissions Insurance Coverage
- Evidence of Passing Score on the NHIE Exam
- Notarized Application
- Applicable Fees

How do I obtain an New Jersey home inspector license?
To apply for your license, contact the New Jersey Home Inspection Advisory Committee at 973-504-6233 or visit their website. New Jersey requires 180 hours of pre-licensing training or the completion of 250 paid home inspections under direct supervision. All training must be by an approved provider. Licensed home inspectors in New Jersey expire every two years based on first licensure date. New Jersey requires 40 hours of continuing education biannually.
