What are the Montana Home Inspector License requirements?
Application Requirements
- Applicants must fulfill one of the following requirements:
- Complete an Approved Comprehensive Home Inspection Instruction Course of 40 Hours or More
- Pass the National Home Inspection Examination (NHIE)
- Be a member of a National Home Inspector Association
- Certificate of Insurance with the minimum coverage of the following:
- $100,000 in General Commercial Liability
- $100,000 in Errors and Omissions
- Be covered under a Workers' Compensation Policy or has an Independent Contractor Exemption Certificate (ICEC) for the occupation of Home Inspection
- Completed and Signed Application
- Applicable Fees

How do I obtain an Montana home inspector license?
To apply for your license, contact the Montana Department of Labor & Industry at 406-444-6543 or visit their website. Montana requires 60 hours of training by an approved provider. RocketCert does not currently offer this program.
Licensed home inspectors in Montana expire every two years based on first licensure date. Montana requires 40 hours of continuing education biannually.
