How do I obtain an alcohol alcohol awareness certification in Nevada?
In Nevada, you must complete an approved training course & exam to obtain your alcohol awareness certification. This certification must be renewed every 4 years from the date it was issued. For renewal you must take an approved training course.

Who is needs to attend the training?
Requirements:
- If you work in a County with a population of 100,000 or more, anyone who serves alcohol (Cocktail Servers, Bartenders, Food Servers, etc.) and anyone working as a Security Officer is required to attend the certification class.
- If you work in a County with a population of 400,000 or more, anyone who sells alcohol (Grocery Store Cashiers, Convenience Store Clerks, etc.) is also required to attend the certification class.
- Many businesses also require (as a condition of employment) certain job classifications attend the class. For example: several hotels on the Las Vegas Strip require Valet Parking Attendants attend the class.
What does the alcohol awareness training cover?
Course Curriculum
Must consist of at least 2 hours of instruction and must include instruction on the following topics:
- The clinical effects of alcohol on the human body
- Methods of identifying intoxicated persons
- Relevant provisions of state and local laws concerning the selling and serving of alcohol beverages
- Methods of preventing and halting fights, acts of affray and other disturbances of the peace
- Methods of preventing:
- The entry of minors into establishments where minors are prohibited
- The purchase, consumption, and possession of alcoholic beverages by minors including the recognition of altered and falsified forms of identification
- The selling and furnishing of alcoholic beverages to minors
